VAASTU SHASTRA
Vaastu Shastra is an ancient science and eminent feature of our heritage. It
finds it's origin in 'Sthapatyaveda' which in itself a part of 'Athervaveda',
one of our four Vedas. It is a science, which outlines method of construction
of house and structure. Basically it give guideline to plan township and it's
various components. It is admixture of science, art, astronomy, and astrology. The
meaning of word is related to earth i.e. 'Bhoomi'.
Like many our tradition Vaastu too got neglected over the centuries. The reason
for this may be the non-availability to a common man in a presentable form.
The Pyramid of Egypt, build in their mysterious past, continue to baffle the
modern scientific mind. It is scientifically proved that the vegetables and
other foodstuff could be preserved for a longer period under pyramidal
structure. It is also seen that a razor blade retains their sharpness under the
pyramids for a considerable time. If a pyramidal structure has such a
miraculous effect on the living organisms, no wonder if the house built on the
line with the principle of Vaastu Shastra bestow their inmates health and
prosperity.
As everybody knows that our physical world consist of five elements i.e. Earth,
water, space, wind, and fire. Our own body also consists of these five
elements. Again these five elements can very well be seen in any type of
construction. These five elements must retain in some definite proportion. It
can be very well seen in the nature whenever there is a change in proportion
out of these five elements, some natural calamities take place. Imbalance in
our body may cause ill health. Essentially the place where we work or live must
have some definite proportion of these panchmahabhootas.
Here, one can easily visualize that there is an invisible equation among these
three things. The five elements in nature and our body are constant. The only
variable remains is the place where we live or work, can be built in such a
manner that the proportion of these five elements in it remains in balance and
that guidance is given by the Principle of Vaastu Shastra essentially the art
of correct setting whereby one can place himself in a such a manner so as to
absorbs the maximum benefit of these 'Panchbhutas'.
The Vaastu Shastra was evolved keeping in views the influence of Sun and the
magnetic field on the living on the earth. The Sun is their life giving and
life sustaining force is a well-known fact. Vaastu Shastra has been founded in
such a way that the inmates can drive the maximum benefits from the sunrays and
the energy of sun like heat, light, ultraviolet rays - the only reliable source
of vitamin D in our body. As we know that the sun ray destroy the germs and
bacteria, as sun rises in the east, the position of the well and underground
tanks are suggested in the N-E zones of the plot. The morning sun containing
ultraviolet rays is good for human body. In the process of rising in the east
to setting in the west the travelling path of the sun is more towards the south
and that is the reason the kitchen are suggested in the S-E zones of the house.
This explains the principle of Vaastu is based on scientific facts.
The other most important aspect considered while formulating "Vaastu
Shastra" is the magnetic field on the earth, which has a significant
influence on the human life. As every body knows that blood in our body
contains the iron cells and our entire body acts as a magnet in which the head
is considered as a north while the leg are south. It is always suggested that
our sleeping position should be that our headrest in south while legs should be
in the north. When our body north will be at a natural south and blood
circulation will be in harmony, that will give peace to our mind and the
results will be a comfortable sleep. On the contrary the positions are reverse
it may create tension and sleeplessness and ultimately the ill health and
unhappiness.
Modern scientist knows about the energy fields circumscribe our earth but have
not been able to understand the sources. Our ancestors knew that any form
creates a concentration or dispersion of cosmic and earth energies that are
harmful or beneficial to human beings. Therefore in Vaastu Shastra it is laid
down that selection of site is an important consideration since the plot
presents a fixed form, it will radiate positive or negative energies depending
upon its shape, proportion, direction, and location of opening etc. Similarly
the various components of a building or structure will have different types of
energy fields depending upon their location in building, direction, shape,
size, and number of other considerations.
So 'Vaastu Shastra' is essentially based on the scientific facts must be
followed in our places where we work or live, whether it is factory, office or
residential premises, for your peace, prosperity, and happiness.
